EV Charging Stations to be built at TCHD

Vernal, UT Sept. 11, 2020TriCounty Health Department (TCHD) is a recipient of the UCAIR grant, presented by the Board of Directors of the Utah Clean Air Partnership. This grant enables TCHD to install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EV Stations) at both the Vernal and Roosevelt locations.

“Electric vehicle charging stations have been difficult to find in the Uintah Basin.” Environmental Health Director, Darrin Brown, said. “Without the charging stations, it is difficult to justify buying an electric vehicle. The need is greatest in the Roosevelt area, where vehicles may need a charge to reach Vernal or Heber. It is known that electric vehicles improve air quality. Our goal is to make it feasible to purchase one.”

The purpose of the EV Station Project is to help clean Utah’s air. Currently there are three charging stations in Vernal, with the closest charging stations outside of Vernal being in Duchesne, there is one in Dinosaur, Colo. and four in Evanston, Wyo. The majority of the current charging stations are on the Wasatch Front.
